Day 337 - Its a Bautizo

I had an early today with getting home late at night from the football game in Kingsville. I made it to McAllen in time to take pictures at a baptism for a client of mine. It happened so fast that I was glad there was a reception for him that everyone got to attend and I was able to take a few more pictures.

Day 336 - The Big Game

I come from a small town in a deep South Texas, and as any town in Texas they have an insane amount of pride when it comes to football. It has been years since a team from the region had gone so far in the playoffs. Since acquiring a press pass for the game, I headed out with my family and we went to see the big game. As I was shooting video in hopes that I could put together a film of their way to state, all hopes were cut short as the team lost the game. Here’s a shot of me actually doing what I do with my camera on the field.

Day 335 - Officially Media

I’ve been taking pictures for just about ten years now and in that time I’ve acquired a lot of media passes and had access to some of the most amazing events because of my clients. Sometimes I really want to shoot something just for me and have to make a few phone calls to get the right kind of permission. So when the Cardinals football team won last week, I decided to make those kind of calls to get the pass I’d need to be on the sidelines with my camera. Its very rare that a photographer from a newspaper will get turned away.

Day 334 - Home From Work

I had planned on sleeping in and working on a few things today. Instead I had to wake up around 6am and meet some friends to help out and shoot a school. Its rare that I make it out to a school and take pictures but when I do I try to find the fun in it. I was able to breeze through all the school and make it home early. I spent the rest of the day tired and laying around with Zelda. Its nice being able to come home to someone that just wants your attention or lets you rest when you need it.

Day 333 - TV in Bed

When I was growing up, I was not allowed to have a TV in my room. I kind of like that that though since it had me spend a lot of time outside in the sun. These days I spend so much time indoors working on pictures and with my laptop. So last week when I saw this amazing deal on a 32 inch LCD, it was hard for me to actually buy it. I got it anyways and now I can feel a certain laziness creeping up on me.

Day 332 - F1.4

I sat around my house today trying to figure out a way to get to use my new lens. I finally decided that I needed to have a Canon 50mm f1.4 instead of my cheap f1.8 lens. So today I bugged Zelda a little around the house and was able to get some fun nice shots of her that show the beautiful depth of field this lens gives.

Day 331 - A Turkey Dinner

Well since I wasn’t able to actually have turkey on Thanksgiving, my mom decided to make one for our Sunday family dinner. I even got to have all the favorite sides to go along with it. So it was basically like having two Thanksgivings in one week for me.

Day 330 - Playoff Time

As most know I am a huge high school football fan being from Texas. Its actually a bigger deal to me than NCAA or NFL. So when my hometown has a team heading off to the playoffs I decided I had to go with my family and see the game. I decided that sitting in the stands was not going to be fun, so I stood on the sidelines and got to see the game up close. It was a great game and the Cardinals won to go on to the next round of the playoffs.

Day 329 - Camping Friday

I decided not to be one of the crazy people that camps out but I did go by early to see all the people that were out there waiting for the great deals. Its crazy to think how many people will spend a week out in front of a store just to save a few dollars on some things. I’ve been one of them for a few years and now I just plan my shopping a little better.

Day 328 - A Day of Thanks

It was that time of the year when everyone thinks of all the things they’re thankful for and spend time with their families. Then there are those people that camp out for hours so that they can get awesome deals at the stores on Black Friday. I decided to spend time with my mom and her family instead of hanging out in front of a store.

Day 327 - Adopt a Pet

This morning I had to wake up early and get Zelda ready to go to the clinic for her little procedure she was having done. While I was leaving I could hear little puppies crying and saw a box of them that had just been dumped in the cold. I felt so bad for the, that I left some extra towels in their cage to make sure they stayed warm. While I was at Petsmart picking up a few things for Zelda I couldn’t help but see some kittens for adoption that were just too cute. I think if I had a big enough house, I’d have one more cat to keep Zelda company.

Day 326 - Fast Banking

I didn’t have to many things to get done today other than working on a few pictures for some clients and making it out to the bank to make a deposit from a check that came in the mail. It seems all I do these days are shoots, editing, and trips to the bank. I kind of like it but I miss all my friends.

Day 325 - The Wheels Go Round

I’ve been having a great time trying to get back in shape without getting a membership at a gym. I think a lot of it just has to do with making it a routine and then just sticking to it. I usually wake up and take my dad’s mountain bike out for about a 5 mile ride just to get the blood going before I do anything else. Today I decided to make it a shorter ride and take my camera with me as I did it.

Day 324 - The News Strip

Today was mostly spend sitting around the house and relaxing. I didn’t even think about getting any work done and just watched a little TV. When the evening came my dad decided to make a huge mess of newspapers in the living room floor, which Zelda then started to go crazy playing in. It amazes me that some of the smallest and cheapest things are what this cat loves to play with.

Day 323 - Exhausted

Its not too often that I have to wake up early on a Saturday but today was one of those times. I had an early breakfast with all my family to get the day started but had to cut it a little short to meet up with Vanessa and her mom to go over some ideas for shoots and pictures from past shoots. As you can see Vanessa was bored and very tired from have to be up early and do her work out training.

Day 322 - The Shark Bowl

I actually had to drive around today meeting with a lot of different clients about pictures. When I was done with all that I met up with my parents for dinner at the new Bass Pro Shop in town. The other night I wasn’t able to make it to their restaurant that I had heard so much about. They actually have an underwater themed bowling alley inside the place. I was impressed with it all. I think I might have to wait till later on to actually get to go and play a game or two in there.

Day 321 - Medusa Lounge

Sometimes I get random phone calls from new clients asking for random photo shoots. Earlier this week I had a friend of mine hook me up with a shoot for a local lounge that needed a new picture for advertising their hookahs. I had about an hour to set up all my lights, get the shoot ready and get the shot I needed. I had fun since its rare I get to do something with so many people in one shot.

Day 320 - Bass Pro Shop

Some of you may know that I was born and raised in Harlingen, TX and for some odd am back living in this little town. Its rare when a new big business opens up but when they do it becomes a big deal. So tonight when Bass Pro Shop had their grand opening I thought I would make an appearance as well. I could not find parking anywhere near the place and the line outside was some 6,000 people, but I was really impressed with all they had to offer. I think all the people were more impressed with the aquarium than anything else, as it was the hardest thing for me to get to.

Day 319 - Mystery Fail

The day started off great and was getting so many things done. Awhile back I ordered a “Mystery Tube” from one of my favorite artist. There was going to be an assorment of pieces thrown in the tube and some from another artist that are extremely collectable. The package I was waiting for got delivered and all my hopes of getting some awesome art was lost. The tube wasn’t that bad, I really like the girl in space print I got but I have no clue why there would ever be an R. Kelly silkscreen done. I spent the rest of the day trying to make trades online so I can have some prints I want.

Day 318 - Over Priced Drinks

Since I spent so much time editing pictures I decided that I would get out of the house today and catch up on a few new movies. While I was there I got a small soft drink only to find out that it was now $4.00. I decided with that kind of jacked up price, I’d just hop into another theater after I watched “In Time” to make it worth my money.
